Christmas in a cage.60 viewsEmily, Brittany, Witt, and Eric (from left to right) at our Christmas outting to the Bayoke Tower. This is the rotating observation deck (CAGE!) from the highest building in Thailand. It doesn't really compare to the "Top of the Rock" in NYC, but it was a fun night. We had dinner at a restaurant on the top floor. $15 got us an international buffet with American, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Thai, and Mexican (yes, Mexican IS a luxury these days).

A cabbie with some cash.39 viewsOn the ride from school to our staff Christmas luncheon I hopped into a cab and found currency from all over the world stuck to the ceiling. What surprised me more than anything though, was that the driver would cover up the monk's blessing typically painted on the ceiling.

Christmas party.39 viewsThis was our staff Christmas party. The guy wearing the headdress is one of our coordinators and the lady sitting in front of him is our boss. I was "lucky" enough to get a headdress as well. We were characters in the Nativity scene and actually won the contest for best interpretation of this year's theme: "Peacemakers" Note: I might feel inclined to post the picture of all of us once school starts back.

The King.41 viewsMost Thai people live their entire lives without ever seeing the King, and I saw him by accident. Everyone has been wearing yellow shirts each Monday for the past year in anticipation of his 80th birthday. The government composed a birthday song for him and it was played at least 5 times each day. He has no real power, yet the army would probably declare war on the world if he so much as suggested it. There is nothing like it anywhere else in the world, and it was an honor to see him on his b-day!

Titans Tag41 viewsA Titans tag in bangkok?!?!? How crazy is this? I've seen maybe one or two other NFL related items my entire time here and then THIS? It practically made my night. The driver was Thai by the way. Kinda reminds me of the time I saw the guy in the Bahamas wearing a McNair jersey. The Cowboys might be America's team, but I'd much rather be the world's team.

43 viewsThe front of "Teacher William's" classroom. The picture is small, but if you squint you might be able to make out the 5 dots at the bottom of the white board. These are cars and each class has 3-5 teams that pick a new car each week to represent their team.

41 viewsThe door to my classroom. Okay, so I went a little overboard with the Christmas decorations...

41 viewsThis is the "back" wall of my class. look at those beautiful bulletin boards!

51 viewsScuba diving is my new favorite hobby. Thailand has like 5 of the top 10 diving sites in the world, so I'm trying to soak it in as much as possible while I'm here... no pun intended.

30 viewsI went to a Mexican "restaurant" at one of the islands and the owners had this pet monkey. It was about 3 months old, and was incredibly fun to watch.
